Blackcurrant jam is not so well known on the mainland. Perhaps the berry blackcurrant is best known for its use in Blackcurrant Syrup or 'Ribena' but its use in jams is heavenly. Blackcurrant jam as we make it uses handpicked blackcurrants. This is a really difficult task as all foreign matter such as stalks and leaves have to be removed before cooking. This is important if you want a real fruit texture as part of your jam experience rather than making a jelly.
